Biography

After more than three decades representing major international corporations and banks in complex commercial and financial transactions in the United States, Europe, and Asia, I opened my own law firm in Falmouth, Massachusetts to serve the transactional needs of local business owners and start-ups. With a focus on bringing the big firm experience to entrepreneurs in the Cape Cod community, I provide the personalized time and attention that only a small firm can offer. Applying thirty years of experience in finance, securities, and complex corporate matters, I am dedicated to offering clients high-quality representation and sophisticated legal services at an exceptional value.

While having prior experience helping to start and grow offices in new cities for an existing law firm, it was only when opening my own law firm without any institutional support that I really understood the difficulties that entrepreneurs face when starting their own businesses. An aspiring business owner must become informed about marketing, information systems, business planning, among other skills necessary to start a business.

Drawing upon my professional and business background, I know that today’s innovators have unique legal needs. I will take the time to fully understand your goals and company values. I obtained my law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where I graduated magna cum laude. At Georgetown, I served as the Notes and Comments Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and was a member of the Order of the Coif. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Maryland where I graduated cum laude.

I began my legal career as an associate in the Washington D.C. office of Millbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. In 1993. a group of four lawyers, including myself, left Milbank to start the D.C. Office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, giving me my first experience of starting a new venture. I started as an associate and eventually became a partner working in the Washington, D.C., London, and New York offices of Orrick. While in London, I had the honor of The American Lawyer naming me a “Deal Maker of the Year.”

In addition, I spent six years in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia as a partner in two leading Mongolian law firms. My experience also includes acting as the business legal advisor to the CEO of the company holding the Mongolian government’s mining assets.

When Paul is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and walking on the beach with his Black Labradoodle, Wally.
